Press releases are great for reaching a local or national audience. Writing a press release does not have to be complicated, in fact, the format is clearly defined creating a simple process of organizing the information you want to share.
What to Write About
- Get the word out about a special you are running
- Write the story of what your business does for the community
- Provide valuable information about changes in your industry
These are just a few ideas to help build your online presence without networking or going into crowded areas.

Press Release Structure
Primary Headline
Recommended length – between 55 and 80 characters
Blog Headline
At least 60% different from Headline Maximum length – 110 characters. Choose a second, alternative headline for use on blogs that also publish your announcement. This must not be the same as the primary headline
Content Paragraph
Written in the third person
Minimum length – 200 words
Maximum length – 2500 words
Include a valid link to article or website (http or https)
Embedded image – 3
Embedded video – 1
1750 characters Recommended: Content should not use first-person language (I, Me, My, Mine, etc.) Content should include at least one embedded image
Summary
Maximum length – 45 words recommended length – between 150 and 196 characters
Choose a second, alternative summary for use on blogs that also publish your announcement.
Blog Summary
This must not be the same as the primary summary. At least 60% different from Summary.
